however when you get in to the hull.....be prepaired for the worst....
boats rot from the bottom up....that means the water gets trapped in the foam....then rots the stringers....then the frames....then the underside of the deck......and possibly has attacked the transom.
replacing the deck is a relatively easy job.......approx 12 hours...not including re carpet and re assemble.
i suggest you read the compleated projects forum......there is many good deck relacments in it. the hull extension thread also has a detailed section on it.
also redfury is doing a deck job right now.....look at the thread "ooh sparkley...redfurys grinding again"
id also suggest you search "core sample" and do your due dilligance once you get inside it.
choose your wood now...buy it and start the drying process
tools you will need to remove the deck include a grinder, a circular saw, a electric chain saw works great. a pry bar, hammer and a drill.
the deck is basically laid over top the stringers, frames and foam. it is usaually screwed to the frames and stringers....it is fiberglassed both top and bottom with a thin layer of 1.5 csm on the bottom and a minimum 8 oz on the top.
peanut butter, pl construction glue. are somtimes used around the edges to join the deck to the hull begore glassing over.
