Yes...the only metal is the center span. The two split "flappers" are all rubber.

Makes sense. Better to have rubber pieces that will eventually work their way out of the drive instead of metal chunks that get lodged somewhere.

The big risk of these loose shutters and or hinge pins is that when the pieces lodge or settle in the bottom elbow of the y-pipe, they tend to vibrate a hole in the pipe! Ouch...new y-pipe time... not good.

Yep - I was a little concerned about that too. At least I have the pin and one of the shutters.
