Replacing a Volvo SX Outdrive with dual prop

Was wondering, I have a volvo 5.7 with SX outdrive on a 26' cruiser. Can I replace it with a dual prop volvo outdrive? Would it bolt up to the transon plate for the SX outdrive? What benefits would I get by doing this? Appreciate all info.

It's a direct swap.. Best thing I ever did. You will NOT regret it.

Pros:
Lower planing speeds
Better Top End
Handles like tires on pavement around the docks

Cons:
Prop sets are 600.00+ for aluminum, over a grand for Stainless

Do you replace both the upper and lower cases or just the lower section of the unit?

Ayuh,... i believe Only the lowerunit is different....

Just the lower has to be changed.
The 5.7 requires a 1.95 gear ratio.

One last question, what size props would it need? It is a 2001 Glastron 26' cruiser with a 5.7 currently using a 15 X 17P prop on the SX outdrive. Looks like the props for the DP are sized by F2, F3, etc. Which one should I use? Thanks in advance.

The F's are Stainless and the D's are aluminum. After that, as Don said, you're gonna need to talk to people in the prop forum I think. I have a 24' Express cruiser that is about 5500 lbs wet. I run a 5.0 (well tying to - see my other threads ) and the D5 and D6 work well for me depending on my application. The lower the number the smaller the prop set.
