I posted a thread a couple of days ago about the fuel pump for my 1956 Evinrude Fastwin 15 (Model # 15016). Through the responses, I learned my motor didn't originally come with a fuel pump and the one on it was a later addition. Additionally, I learned my pump and the related parts are no longer in production; the superseding part number is 388685. Unfortunately, this pump is about $90, and call me cheap, but I can't bring myself to pay more for a fuel pump than I paid for the motor and Sierra doesn't make direct replacement for this number.

My question is: Will another Evinrude or Sierra pump work just as well?

I have found several on eBay and elsewhere ranging from $20-$50, like Sierra pumps 18-7350 and 18-7351 and Evinrude pump 391667. They all look the same on the outside and are build for 9.9, 10, 15, and 18 HP engines. Assuming the mounting holes are correct I don't see why any one of these wouldn't work, I would just like someone to confirm is dispel my hunch before I buy one of them. Below are some pictures of the pump I took off and how it mounts to the engine. Thanks in advance for the help.

I would use the 18-7351. It is a good and simple pump. Hose re-routing will be necessary, but that's no big deal.
