Replace or Rebuild

After getting my noids wired back in and trying to activate
my trim pump I am still noticing hesitation. So I opened the reservoir
tank only to find the hydro fluid is pure white goop.

Surprise surprise, yet another thing to fix.

Obviously the seals are toast and water is getting in to the system.

With it being an Alpha one drive, what would be the better
route, repair or just replace?

I have no idea where its leaking from but there's no fluid on the floor.
I also have no idea what I'm looking for to know whats damaged or broken and need replacing.
Nor do I know if its one or both rams that are leaking.

Also, how do I flush all this goop out of the system?

Keeping in mind .. everything priced in the U.S is double in Canada

Re: Replace or Rebuild

Try SEI outdrives I know they have new pumps and rams.
I rebuild my ramps and it worked fine. Bought a seal kit.
Water must be coming in from the seals that are exposed to water or water ran in the fluid fill hole.
I would disconnect the hoses at the ram and let the oil drain. Then fill and pump clean oil out the hoses, use some cheap motor oil.
I would take the rams apart and clean and reseal. You might me able to get new o-rings at the auto parts store.
When my rams leaked they leaked oil and no water entered the system.

Nothing wrong with rebuilding your rams if you can get them apart. I bought the wrong ram rebuild kits for my boat. I have two of part number 87410 if that's the rebuild kit you are looking for. They retail for 40.00$ each. I will give you both for 50$ if you pay shipping.

Most contamination occurs through the rams. My kits are the ones with the metal tube like sleeves.
