I spoke too soon... it is getting hung on scripts, but only occasionally. I noticed it primarily when viewing the Resto forum and the Mercruiser I/O forum. Happens on every single page in the Resto forum but only occasionally on the Merc I/O forum.

Ugh... happening intermittently now a wide variety of forums... about every third or fourth page click leads to the script message.

I'm back on my Linux computer using Firefox. No lockups or popup script messages

I have been doing some investigation and the implementation of the new advertising bar based on key words is a very sloppy written script, I find it interesting that when that started being used, then the reports of scripts not being run correctly, coincides with the implementation of that script. Might want to be careful with some of these ad on scripts for the forum software, also the VB system is so sloppy in their implementation of this latest version, it is terrible.

Virtually everything about this latest version of VB is dirty code, it is bad.

I'm glad someone else has this problem. Here in Canuckistan, I'm running Windows 7 Pro. For the last 2 days, my default browser Firefox's access to Iboats (only Iboats) locks up with that "js.moatads" message. I resorted to Chrome to access Iboats, but it has also locked up a couple of times, again only on Iboats. I've run a virus scan, but found no issue with my system. - Grandad

It is not a virus, it is simply sloppy code, coders these days are terrible.

Same problem with Firefox on my computer at work. Using Firefox with my computer at home works fine.

Computer at work 64it. Computer at home 32 bit. I have another computer at home that is 64 bit and I am going to try it next. Been doing this for around a week.

I hate those advertising bars. Propeller

The keyword script was one I wrote, it is a simple javascript/jquery block of code that searches text nodes for target words. It is possible the script isn't working well with the ad scripts, which are third-party. The keyword script is only set to run AFTER the page has loaded, so I'm not sure if it is the cause to this. However, we have temporarily disabled the script to see what happens.

toneeees, then you need to make sure your script is not calling more than once, the redundancy on here is really getting frustrating, we don't need a script like that, we all know where to go to buy parts and redundant code is often times a real problem with browsers, you need to write code for the lowest common denominator.

I see the advertising bars are not there and the problem still exists.

It seems like it might have something to do with the ads that run along the right side of the screen. When everything works properly, I see those ads (esp. the lower ones). When the page load hangs and I have to tell it to stop the script, there is blank space where the lower ad usually runs.

This is indeed strange.......I see none of this......nothing on the "right side"....... I don't really believe it's because I am using Linux (although I'd like to) Maybe it's the Adblock Plus On FF for Linux..............

At home on my 32 bit machine, no ads and no script issues. Now I need to make sure at work I have AdBlock Plus on it. It must be the ads causing the issue.

For the most part, I don't see ad's on this page, because I get tired of people trying to sell me something I don't want, so it really is probably not the ad's on the right hand side causing the problems. We all know what Iboats offer in their store, and the majority of us look in that store first when looking for something, but after doing this for so many years, it is simply not closing your scripts correctly that is causing the problem, people need to pay attention to what they are writing, I started out in the days of 64KB of memory, we didn't have any head room to play with, it had to be right.
