Removing Trailer Fender Dent???

I bought a stratos bass boat and the trailer fender has a big dent in it. How can I get it out? A friend of mine suggested getting a mini basketball and deflating it, then put it between the tire and the dent and inflate it until it pops the dent out. Is there any other way to do it???

Remove the fender and bang it out with a block of wood and small hand sledge. They also make dent pullers, harbour frieght, like 20 bucks.

plastic or metal fender?

If metal, is it welded or bolted to the trailer?

Your friend has a very good idea, deflate the tire 80% then jamb something between the tire and fender like a countoured piece of wood, then inflate the tire slowly and observe carefully. The basketball trick may just as well be worth a try too.

The mini-basketball sounds like a good idea but I would suspect the only thing would happen is the trailer would rise up because of the leaf spring suspension. Even when it reaches the maximum on the spring the ball has a lot more give to it than the metal. Any sizeable dent on a curved surface takes some ummphh power to get it out. Since it's welded on I believe your only option is to remove the tire/wheel and chock the trailer securely and begin pounding out the dent from underneath. A dent puller is the other option but either way you're going to have a little body patch work, sanding, priming and painting to do.

I have the same problem. I decided fixing it wasn't worth the hassle. It's only a trailer...

Take a small rubber mallett and tap it out. You might be able to do it by just removing the tire. I'll bet it is when the boat bounced on the trailer in transit.
