Bought this boat a year ago. Was originally owned and operated as a guide boat for guests of a casino in Biloxi, MS. Primarily operated in the Chandeleur Islands off LA. Great flats boat, but I suspect it saw heavy duty. Boat has been mostly restored but for the past few months I am noticing a fuel leak. The aluminum tank was foamed in. Read on another post this is a big problem with alum tanks.
Tank is below deck. Looks like I will have to remove the cap. Anyone know anything about these boats? Is it possible to remove the cap? Any idea if this can be done in the back yard? Hints? Tips? Insights? Advice?

Thanks!

Welcome to iBoats M8. Try to post pictures from your engine compartment. You need to have at least 3 posts to be able to upload pictures via iBoats or else you need to create a photo bucket accound. Just post two more times saying anything. Use your creativity :)

Center console flats boat. Only access to gas tank is the inspection port where the sender is, and another in a forward storage department by the fill hose. Not leaking at either of those points unfortunately. I'll send Pics with the next post.

Go Noles!

Big Speck,
I have a 2001 Ghost 169, and I have the same issue. No leak from the front at the fill hoses, or from what I can see from the back. I am going to check on top where the sending unit is. The previous owner said he replaced it recently, so I just hoping that is the issue. If not, I am going to start looking into having a shop due the repair, or even attempt it myself and remove the cap to get to the tank.

If you have any insight, would like to hear what you got....
