I have to pull my motor because a starter bolt has sheared off in the block. Unfortunately this is the third time. In the past I have been able to get an EZout to get the broken bolt out drilling up with an air drill (they are small enough to get under the engine with). This time, i have TWO EZout shear off in the bolt!
My question is do i need to pull the outdrive in order to pull the motor?
Any information from those that have done it is greatly appreciated.
Is it as easy as disconnecting the fuel, water, and electrical systems and then unbolting? Can i then slide the motor foward?

Thanks
Tom

Pull the drive. You will also need to have the drive off to reinstall, and then check alignment.
Remove the lag bolts holding the front mount/s to the boat.
Remove the 2 nuts holding the rear mounts to the transom shield. Disconnect elect, fuel, cables, etc. and lift engine out.

Thanks Don. I already made an outdrive stand modeled after the ones i saw here. If i remove the lags to pull that motor do i have to worry about alignment during the install? Just purchased an alignment tool. You are a wealth of knowledge and thanks for all of the information.

You have to worry about the alignment any time you remove the engine or outdrive. You may not have to adjust it, but you MUST check it to verify nothing is wrong.
