Tashasdaddy that might be a good way to remove trapped water or it might be a way to introduce it. I do not like the foam. Perhaps an option is to bulkhead the bow and put foam in there.

here I am in the process of pouring foam. then I used a hand saw to level off the top for the floor. after I put in the new floor I glassed it and sealed it to be air tight. I used 12 gallons of resin and a lot of cloth. where the floor ends at the bilge I left the fiberglass thin as to make it transparent so I could see if any water was trapped and after 3 years now and still not a sign of any water. If there are ever a leak I will drill a small hole at the bilge and fiberglass a plug to it so I can drain and shut back off. I don't want to leave the drain open because of rain and water splashing in the boat will fill the bilge and then run underneath the floor.
You really opened a can of worms JZE1212, atta boy, I like to hear different opinions and be able to weigh the options, I try to keep an open mind because you can never learn to much. I started doing a search to alternative ways to make a boat float when it shouldn’t and like most times I do something like that I got off the subject at hand a little and found some very informative web sites http://www.uscg.mil/d8/mso/louisville/WebStuff/comdtpubp16761_3b.pdf has a section in it about what the Coast Guard requires as far as flotation and also what alternatives you have to regular foam flotation. It also made me think of something not mentioned much except by ed/il, the floatation don’t have to be under the deck where it can retain water and not have a chance to dry out. It can also be put under the gunwales, bow and stern area, space permitting. I thought I’d just add a few more worms in the can :D I gotta hand it to ya Ron, you were a sh@#$ president but a heck of a boat builder, nice job!

"Safety Standards for Backyard Boat Builders"...ROTFLMAO!!!

Not that it's not a good idea, but, Think of the Govt's time, money, committees, meetings, etc.. allocated to coming up with that.

Billions of dollars and some of it may still be awaiting approval by other committees....

Makes ya wonder about the what the guidlines are for paper a bear should use in the woods...

Off subject for Brownies,

It’s easy to spend someone else’s money Brownies, that’s what our government is for, collecting our hard earned money and giving it to people in other countries or spending it on stuff that the people they collected it from have no use for. For the backyard builder who wants to be up on federal standards with their project might get some use out of the pamphlet. I just use what little common sense I have. Oh by the way they already figured out the bear thing after a two billion dollar study, that’s what rabbits are for :D

Always Broke...LOL!!!! (time to clean my keyboard again...Coca-Cola will do wonders for sinuses when expelled out the nostrils at 40mph...just has a tendency to really mess up a keyboard)
BTW, Are we having to sell our sea ports in order to pay for the bear/rabbit research?

jze1212, Remove enough of that floor for the sides of the new floor to have hull to set on. Like you've done toward the back. Don't rush it either. Dehumidify on damp days, open it all up on sunny / windy days. Give it about a week if you can.
You can use a grinder with 80grit sandpaper to smooth out the rough glass remains. That hull will be thicker than you think...You would have to get really serious AND not be paying attention with 80grit on the inside of the hull to hurt anything.

Re: remove saturated foam, replace with new

Well, things are moving along.. I goofed pretty badly though, I figured seeing that I was doing the floor all in one shot I would just mix my whole gallon of epoxy resin\hardner and go for it, I got about 2/3 the way through laying the floor down and my bucket of epoxy began to smoke and boil over!!! Scarerd the daylights out of me , I jumped out of boat and quickly dumped out what i had left onto the unfinished part of floor.. See pics.. It was going very well too, oh well, you live and learn.. I really wish I knew not to mix all at once because I had about half left that I just dumped to at least get some down...

Any suggestions?

[img=http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/7071/dscf10463hi.th.jpg]
[img=http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/4679/dscf10508zw.th.jpg]
[img=http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/6936/dscf104840xe.th.jpg]

I plan to do another layer of matting and rersint arorund the edges where the plywood sets into the hull.. Just for extra strength.. Once I cut the excess matting off I am goingt o throw some more resin around there as well to prevent peeling.

Re: remove saturated foam, replace with new

Hey everyone, The floor is really coming along, and I decided to go with marine grade vinyl flooring from Defender Marirne, www.defender.com (they are about 20 minutes from where I live! Anybody have any experience with that stuf?? I am hoping the weather is nice like they are predicting for tommorow.. ALSO, I did the structural part of the floor with epoxy resin, but for add-ons I picked up a gallon of the Polyester resin @ $23.00 a gallon how coculd I not? I will post a pic when I am done with the floor, sorry about the oversized picturers before.. Thanks

Don't have any advice to give as i am not much of a boat builder yet. But i would be interested in seeing all of the pictures you took in sequence. is there a way i can acces the whole slide show, or i have to look one at a time as you have them posted here.
