Simple Q ...... assuming front prop (inner) is left hand threaded nut, and rear prop (outer) is right hand threaded nut.
As there is no locking tab washer or split pin .... what keeps the nut from working loose ? Particularly the rear (outer prop) nut.
i ass/u/me they are lock nuts with a nylon insert.

the US amazon price for that tool the guy mentions is $32, but it looks milk toast, like it would break if the prop has been on for more than three months so think you did ok with your scrounging. How many beers did that pipe cost you ?

Just don't forget to GREASE the prop shaft splines! Evinrude triple guard is a great water resistant grease as is Merc extreme duty grease. If done yearly when you change the gear oil you will probably never have a seized prop.

OK … assumed different threads as in this video the guy goes to pains to explain having gearbox in forward for 1 prop and reverse for the other.
They are both right hand threads. The video is correct though about you have to have it in forward for one prop and reverse for the other.

The prop nuts are Nylock and the manual states 80 foot pounds of torque.

That's interesting since my Volvo OEM manual says 45 ft-lb for the front an 50 ft-lb for the rear. My manual is for an LK so a few years back.

My Manual (4.3 280-C-N) states
45Nm for the rear prop at 100Nm for the front prop.

Finished the tool ... cut slots, welded on a 30mm hex nut ... so same socket can be used for front & rear props.

Are your drives the newer ones with the helical prop splines?
