Looking for some guidance. I have a 2020 Monterrey with a Mercruiser 4.5. Looking for a transom mount remote trim switch. I see there is a factory option, but wanted to see if there was something people here recommend that is not as bulky.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Ayuh,.... I've done it several times with simple 3 position toggle switches,....

A hot wire to the center post, blue wire from the up post to the up solenoid, 'n a green wire from the down post, to the down solenoid,.....

I have both switches. I have a 15A 3 position momentary actually mounted to the trim pump as an emergency bypass to still be able to move the drive when the solenoid inevitably fail, and a factory 'Transom mounted trim switch' actually on the transom. The OEM is water proof (the toggle is not!) and it's been there since 1994, so it's lasted way longer than a non-weather-proof switch would ever last. The OEM switch isn't bulky, it has no 'sticky outy' bit, it's a flat switch... 87-815200A2

The OEM switch also has nice bullet connectors that tap right into the harness. No slicing of wires required. It also looks very nice and does not protrude much at all.

Thanks gents. I ordered the factory part, and also plan on installing a toggle switch next to the trim pump for emergency purposes..

Kit comes with a drilling template. Hold this template where you want the switch and using a centre punch, punch the 3 drill points. The 2 outer marks get drilled for the screws (I think 3mm) and the main hole needs a 19mm hole saw.

Once the holes are drilled pass the wires through and mount the switch. Working inside the boat, connect the wiring harness to the switch wires and route the harness to the trim pump. Disconnect the trim pump control harness and plug the appropriate Packard connector (on the remote switch harness) where the control harness was. Now plug the control harness connector into the other Packard connector on the switch harness. Job done.
