Just bought 2000 Regal 1700 XR2, and there's a leak between rear of the engine and transom. It's fairly sizable, and from all I can tell it seems to leak through engine mount grommet. Here are some videos:

I'm thinking of just covering that whole area with sealant-soaked fiberglass fabric, at least until I can get more permanent repairs in place. Yar/nar?

is it leaking through the transom? I'm pretty sure that's what I'm seeing. And if so, you'll have to blow it apart to some degree to see what's what. I don't think adding resin soaked fiberglass is a good bandaid

I would say a “big NO “ unless you want to go swimming.
what is the drive?
can you see where the water is coming in (hard to see in your videos.
Is it structural or mechanical?
Could be as simple as a shift cable or bellows Or could be a rotten transom.
either way a “wet patch “ isn’t the way to go.

So, I flooded the bilge with the boat on trailer, and it's leaking through the jet pump (Mercury XR2 engine). It's NOT leaking through the transom, all inside the jet pump. Proper fix would be to replace the grommet, but that involves removing the jet pump or powerhead - major $$$. If that's just the rubber grommet leaking I'm thinking laying it over with 3M 5200?

So it’s mechanical....
probably not well suited to the restoration forum.
you may get better responses if you request moving to an appropriate section but the - proper fix - will surely be “fix it properly “
