Looking at rebuilding a 4.3GL (cracked block) rest of the motor only has 58 hours on it so I suspect most external parts should be in good shape. Looks like a block can be obtained for around 2,100 was wondering what other costs I could plan on such as gaskets etc.

The price sounds a little high to me. What were you planning to use, a bare block, a short block or a long block?
If the block froze, how are the manifolds and the PS cooler?

Around here 4.3L long blocks go for about $1,600 but I don't know how much they'd add for the bad core. I can't see it being too much. Those blocks are a dime a dozen at the auto wreckers.
Depending on the rebuilders, they usually get a complete engine gasket and seal kit to assemble it and then give you all the leftovers with the engine.
