concerned about this floor... not! But you still don't want sharp edges that will grab. If I had a better equipped shop, if I had some occasional help, if I had used new steel, if if if.... I don't complain about such.

With proper equipment, this job would have turned out minimally better - had I the occasional hand, the same. New steel? no difference. if if if... Had I these things, the difference would have been in time and money. Extra paint $5, cutting wheel $4, steel $24, welding wire and electricity lol $10, and a old grinding wheel ?$

Less than fifty bucks kept me busy for a week building this Shrubbery!!!
just call me John the Shrubber! lol

Speaking of Shubbery, I planted my deer head today. Going to try and do a European mount on this one. We'll see how it looks after a year in the dirt.

Since it's your own thread we'll just let it go. You can hijack your own thread all you want...

"yald - you all would" for those that don't speak Southern!! lol Been laying around wondering "why am I so tired today?" Well, I do have CRS and it has progressed to KRAFT, but that's no excuse! Had another echo this morning and we doubled one of my meds. Every time that gets done I seemed whipped for a few days; until my heart adjusts...

I don't give a tweet about facespace, so there!

i went to work today
Grandpa wasn't just talking about fishing when he said, "do it all you can while you can.... there'll come a day when......"
I had always planned on working until I couldn't - meaning not retiring. Well... that day came in March. I can still get around some and do as much as I can and more. Am really seeing that I need to live each moment as if it were my last...

^^^^ That's why we aren't waiting. By the time a guy can retire, he maybe sittin' in a corner looking at the birdies from a wheelchair..... If you can do 'er, do 'er. Life is short.....

No disrespect if anyone is in that situation....

Life is short.....
that it is, and it makes me wonder, find it ironic, that I still build stuff to last forever! lol At least, will be around long after I'm gone. Am guessing it will find its way back to the scrapyard??

It does seem amazing how many folks always talk about retiring and then traveling the world. And so many get to retirement and that seems to be long forgotten. And that is because of health and financial reasons they never even thought about when younger. So don't make plans to do things when you retire. Do them now. You never know when your time is up! And secondly, regardless what you think, your ideas will change when you get older. JMHO!

Having been retired for over 9 years now I wonder where the time has gone. Fortunately I still enjoy fairly good health. I always told my kids to work and earn money to spend some now and save a little for the future. Do things as you go along, keep active and your health the best you can. I still think that is good advise. I hate exercising for exercise sake but really like hiking in the mountains, especially off trail. Uneven ground with a light pack is the best overall exercise I can think of. The thing about hiking is the views keep changing and you never really know what's coming next. There are critters out there in the woods.

Fishing is good but not really much exercise but that's the season that is still open around here.

Hiking in the mtns is a great workout, especially for cardio......... I think you gave your kids great advice.

Fishing can be a workout depending on what you're after... Panfish, not so much. Throw a Musky lure with a heavy rod/reel all day and your shoulders will feel like they're ready to fall off......:fish2:
