re-fitting an old runabout

There is a big difference between what I have and what I want. A while back, I acquired a 1955 aluminium runabout in decent shape. After mulling it over and consulting the gods of vintage boats on this forum, the conclusion is that it doesn't have a lot of value. It was made by Aluminium Goods Mfg. before they changed their name to Mirrocraft. It has a long covered bow which puts the steering wheel quite far back. At the possibility of upsetting the purists, I want to change it to a side console 2 seat fishing boat, very similiar to Mantis' 14' Lund in the "COMPLETED BOATS" section. The boat is 14 ft. but narrow, 51 inches between the gunwales. With a casting deck like the Lund, even keeping it as low as possible, how stable will it be when standing?

Depends on the hull shape...if it's a deep V bow tapering to a flat stern, it could be unstable with a raised deck. Can you post a pic?

sounds like it vould be about like a rowboat, not very stable. But in true I boats fassion you could add pontoons and make it very stable.

It's pretty much a standard 1432 lapstrake hull
