Hi - I am in Fairfield county CT and am looking for somebody nearby that works on aluminum boats. First need is re-carpeting, and maybe some new hatches in the process. If anybody can recommend somebody in my area, it would be much appreciated. Cheers. Josh

I take it DIY isn't an option? I ask as my uncle, in his 70's, ripped out the carpetting in his Sylvan and installed new over a weekend or two.

Hatches would be simple too...just some ACX or BCX plywood sealed would get the job done.

If you are going to own a boat you better start learning how to work on it.

Hiring out that type of work can be very costly....very costly ! You might want to rethink carpet, most who have it are looking to replace it with something else for easier maintenence.

to hire it out, use 15 hours and $150 an hour for a budget. then take the cost of all the materials, and add about 30% to them.

as a DIY, your looking at about $150-400 in carpet (quality range) , $100 in adhesive/hardware/tools, about $100 in incidentals, plus your hatches. so all in plus beer about $450-700.

Marideck or Nautolex is the only flooring that belongs in an aluminum boat. Standard equipment in Starcraft and many others. Even my first fiberglass runabout had it. Non-skid, east cleanup, easy on the feet. Only skill level 2 required. I once did a Starcraft update and the new parts I added were a perfect match to the oem.
