Hey. Just replaced raw water pump and yes hoses are on the right way! However the pump will not circulate water with the muffs on as well as being on the lake. Even with t Stat removed no water will exit the leg.

What came first ? The muffs or the lake ? Very often these aren’t too good at taking water up from muffs. You may have worn the impeller I’m afraid. If so.
Other than that. The power steering cooler can occasionally draw air and make the pump lose its ability.
What engine is she ?

5.7. Brand new pump. Muffs first then decide to try lake. Can I reverse flush from inlet hose on raw water pump...top hose?

Is the replacement RWP brand new or used?

On my 5.7Gi-D, the rubber seal behing the RWP bearing was dry and the RWP was sucking air from there. Engine was overheating even at idle on the muff and on the lake.
I tested the RWP by blocking one port, and applying vacuum on the other port. It should hold vacuum, but on mine it didn't.

The Volvo solution is to replace the whole RWP, but I did replace the seal only and it worked well.

Try setting up a bucket of water in the boat with the suction hose directly in the bucket. Or just plug in a garden hose to the suction side to see if it will pump the water.

First, make sure the fitting on the drive that the hose between the drive and the transom shield is still intact.

Would help to know which one of the dozen or so drive families you have
