so....

i've got a buddy that has a concrete business but of course rain hit that so as i need other work done i hire him and his crew out on rain days when I need other work done. He's like a younger me, can do it all. Literally built his own house.

One thing i always do when I have folks working for me is feed them lunch. Besides the protein i learned back in my 30s when i did my handyman gig for the first round of my life i had a customer that always, every day i worked for her, insisted that i stopped work, washed up, and sat with her at the table and talked.

Yesterday was burgers, today subway.

Party platter from subway is 14 cents more expensive per person to feed them than ordering individual sandwiches.

Paying for the convenience?

My local BJs does the 6 foot heros for about 37$ out the door. Good quality bread too. I went through my local deli and supermarket and they were nearly triple the price. Bread sourced from the same vendor too....

So, is your rant that the workers ate too much and were lazy when they went back to work because of all the bread they ate? Or is it that you paid $0.70 more for the convenience of a platter with leftovers you could eat tomorrow instead of individual orders?

I worked on a 500 acre hobby farm in my youth, the mrs always had me in for lunch. Fed me head cheese sandwiches and fermented fruit sauce on ice cream for desert. She was the president of the Minnesota Republican Party at the time and politicians would come to discuss their possibility of running. Heard some interesting conversations.

When I was 16 years old and was finally able to drive to a job. One of my first jobs was cutting grass at a huge apartment complex, 37 buildings and with a total of 1000 apartments. A lot of the nice ladies young and older would invite us in for something to Eat or drink. I got an education that summer that you couldn’t pay to get. 😜 Great memories.
