I have a 1987 Ranger 373V with the original trailer. The trailer jack is missing the traverse cover. When you raise the jack, the traverse is exposed and I end up getting into the grease on it. Iwould like to keep the jack and replace the cover.
Anyone know where to find a cover ? Also would like to remove the boat from the trailer to refinish it. What do I have to do to raise the boat off the trailer and how to keep it until the trailer is completed? Thanks in advance. 1Fishon

Re: Ranger bassboat Trailer

you could build a cradle and just pull the boat off...I tied mine to a tree and drove the trailer out letting it rest in the cradles I built for the bow and stern...when I was ready to move boat I just winched it back on

A little bridgework, (coupla 2x6's or 2x8's) blocking, jacks, levitation.

This one is a couple of stress rated 2x4's an engineer said would do it. Added the 2x8 after I viewed the arch in the original.

Thanks for the idea - will use a cherry -picker for the engine / transom and block-N-tackle for the bow - Should work !! It's the simple ideas we tend to overlook. Any idea on the jack stand cover ?

Re: Ranger bassboat Trailer

I made an overhead beam in my garage and used a 2" ratchet strap to lift it. Pulled the trailer and then built a temporary stand plust used an engine hoist to assure its stability.
