raising motor on jon boat

i have a 14 foot jon boat flat bottom with a suzuki dt 8 on it. the cavitation plate is 2 inches below the bottom of the hull. would it be to my benifit to raise it so its even with the hull. boat runs a little nose high and doesn't really plane but pushes the boat pretty good. i know about the weight distribution thing but can't do a whole lot about it how the boat is set up for fishing. Thoughts?

Yes it would help. Regardless, if it won't plane you need a proper prop matched to the engine and motor. If it is nose high the angle is wrong.
