How, and what type of antenna do I need to install to be able to get AM and hopefully FM? I can get one AM channel good enough to listen to some days. No FM at all.

Any radio guys out there? I am hoping I don't have to put it on the roof.

A metal building is a faraday cage. Any antenna run outside the building will help. I usually stream a few stations because i have an office made of metal studs within a metal building. My cell doesnt even ring in the office

Any idea of what type of antenna to purchase?
what kind of radio/stereo? does it have an external antenna connection? usually two screws (300 ohm) or the coax cable (75 ohm)

my old shop radio was the boom box from when I was a teen. I wired a simple home made T-antenna (similar to the $5 FM antennas) and shoved it outside the window and that is all I needed.

Any TV antenna can work for AM and FM. There are coax spllitters that have AM/ FM breakouts. I can listen to anything with my huge Ariel. But I also use it for TV

I went from a 6 transistor pocket radio, directly to a Marantz 2250 receiver.
