Hello,
I own a Princecraft Pro Series 169 with a 45 HP Mercury Outboard (1988, Model # 1045412BC).
Attached to the engine is a Quicksilver control box. I'm not sure what model # it is, but when I open it up, it has the numbers 85892.
The throttle on the control box seems to be seized up. I tried WD-40ing it like crazy, but although it loosens it up slightly, it doesn't seem to have any affect. The button will never go fully in. The only way I can currently get the engine started (cold) is by choking it and putting it into gear. Obviously, I would much rather start the engine using the throttle so that the engine can remain idle.
So I'm left with 2 options, which I would appreciate some feedback on:
1. If you've ever had this issue with this control box, can you tell me how you fixed it?
2. Alternatively, can you recommend me another control box that would be similar / compatible with this engine (and where to purchase it)?
I have attached pictures of the Quicksilver control box.
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely,
Ray
