Im having a problem w my neutral safety switch on my quicksilver 3000 controls. When I hook both wires up as you should, two coming from switch, one going to harness the other to ignition switch, and turn the key, boat will not start. But If I by pass the switch and go straight from harness to switch, it fires right up..I dont know if it was bypassed from PO because I always put the boat into neutral from habit. My question is, Is it ok to run the boat like this? other than being able to start the boat in gear, will this hurt the boat in any way? I checked to make sure the boat was actually going into neutral by spinning the prop, and it is..So im guessing the switch is bad.

It won't damage the electrical system or the engine or anything mechanical. It's only a safety issue.
