Quick Trim/Tilt question 1974 Evinrude 50hp

When I lower my engine the Trim pump sounds as it should until it gets into the trim range of movement when the pump comes under considerable strain. On the way up in all positions the pump runs freely. Its always been like that since I have owned this boat, but from other OMC systems I have had over the years this isnt the case. I understand that there is a slight change to the sound of the pump under trim rather than tilt but this is excessive. Any ideas ? I still have the original Calco pump.

i own a 2001 lowe bass boat with 50 hp johnson. i had the seals replaced in the power tilt and trim hydrolic. i can not get the power tilt and trim to work. i have added murcery power tilt fluid and tryed to bleed the air out still will not work. the tilt motor is working i hear it running need help
