Hello-

I have a new to me 2000 150. Runs good, everything looks to be working with the 4 light tach gauge and alarm.

I took an old temp gauge from a 140 evinrude. the gauge shows that the TEMP. goes up the faster I go. When I slow back to idle the temp goes back down.

My question is that normal. I thought the temp should go down the faster I go.

Thanks for any input.

Try another temp gauge. Also check your voltage across the battery when running it .

boobie- Thank you for your reply.
to be clear... are you saying that the temp should go down on plane?
I read that this moter had the cooling redsigned to be more even temperature between going at idle and WOT and is normal.
I just value this forums opinion more.
thanks again for any input.

Yes- J150vlsss

I changed the water pump P/N 50001595, therno stats P/N 435491 and springs.
I took to an Evinrude dealer / certified mech. to be checked over before I used it. I told them it was a new to me motor.
They ran it in their tank and told me every thing checked out. They even put a new alarm on it, old one was not beeping.
I ran it, pulled the hood and put a temp senser on it. almost 140 degr. (short run)
I think your right about the gauge, as soon as I back off the throttle the temp goes down. I still need to check the volts.
Thanks again.
