quick question on shift cable setting volvo sx

looking at the upper arm of the shift mechanism of the drive using a right hand prop rotation for fwd, the rod is attached to the stbd side of the arm ,witch way is fwd gear up or down ? installing a new box and motors not running yet.

Which ever way prevents you from turning the prop in reverse is forward.
