I tow my boat with a '00 GC 4.7L (non HO). It has the factory tow package with 3.73:1 gears. My boat/trailer weighs around 3700Lbs. Vehicle is rated for 6000 or 6500Lbs(can't remember which). The only time I can't use OD is when pulling up a steep grade. My vehicle has 140K miles and the trans is fine. The trans is original except for software upgrades. I know Chrysler has had lots of tranny problems over the years but mine seems to be fine. Now,the front/rear axles are a different story...LOL

What did you do? Break a couple of clips in that 9 1/4 rear diff? Took out the speed sensor and the gearset?

Just the bearings on the rear (got lucky on that one). The front has been rebuilt (bearings and gearset) twice by the dealer (luckily under an extended warranty). I guess it could be worse...it has the variloc axles and I'm told the pumps can be pricy.
