Re: Q4 Owners, check your hydraulic cooler now! My 3 weeks old q4 failed.
I had the exact same thing happen to me a week ago. Was out on a monday on vacation. Water was glassed and we were about 3-4 miles out from our condo on the lake. Decided to open my 2010 tahoe Q4 ss up and see how it would do. I have had this bout about a month or so and never really opened it up. WELL... after getting up to a WOT speed of about 42 miles an hour with my wife and 3 year old son on board...warning alarm sounds engine over heats from right under 180 degrees where it usually sits to 240 which is the top temp the gauge reads in about 20 seconds. stop the boat kill the motor smoke coming out of the engine compartment....NOT HAPPY. Open the engine hatch and look around and my bilge is completely full of water. Immediately I think its the water pump...so I start tracing the lines and saw the same thing. Plastic power steering cooler with the water inlet hose GLUED on the freaking ends. Took it back to tracker they knew exactly what it was as soon as i mentioned overheating. Got it back within 3 days. I was happy with the repair and the time it took, just not happy with manufacturer for cutting corners on such and important peice of equipment. Long story short if its plastic, dont risk it bring it in.
