putting new engine need help

hey guys,
i have a 1985 bayliner cuddy 1900 its a outboard 125 force the engine has seized so now I'm changing up the engine i have a extremely tight budget im young with payments like every other hard working man so i was looking to put a smaller cheaper outboard.

my question is. i saw a 19 foot cuddy with a honda 2004 20 horse. is this possible doesn't seem like enough power

whats the smallest outboard you can recommend for a 19 foot cuddy boat

A 20HP would push the boat but it might only go 5 mph with the right prop. The lowest I would go is a 90-100hp if you still want to be able to get on plane and cruise, skiing behind it though maybe questionable.

Whatever the boat's max rated horsepower is....try to stay in at least 70% of that.
