Bad crankcase seals can cause fueling problems. Most likely would be hard start when you would not have enough crankcase vacuum to pump fuel. If you use the primer bulb this would be eliminated. Acceleration would be the next most likely case since air flow would be less than needed to pull the normal amount of fuel from the carbs. Top and bottom cylinders might run lean. Perhaps a plug check would be of assistance.
I would guess that a careful full adjustment process would eliminate your problems. Look in the frequent problem post at the top of the engine section. There is a listing for setting wide open throttle from Joe, who is a long time tech. It works, that and a careful throttle throttle syncornization frequently fixes this kind of problem.
