Re: Proud new owner!

She is home!!! We just made it in with about 30 mins ago. Besides the a little rain and bad trailer light, the trip when great. I took a set of magnetic tow light with me, just incase, threw them on and shagged butt. SHe fires right up and runs like a mid sized lion. LOL. I do need to do the impeller on her, it's been 3 years, but thats no biggy, at least I know when it was done last.

I'll post pics in the AM, it's sprinkling again and My wife won't let me use her camera. LOL.

Congrads. Great looking boat. You'll love the big block. Every time you fire it up, the rumble will put a grin from ear to ear.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm still grinning from the sea trial! I think it needs some through hull exhaust tho. LOL

I'll give ya $5300.00 for her! lol
You did great! And a nice roller trailer to boot!

Thank you! I think I'll hold on to her for at least the season. LOL I'm at 5700 right now, new wheels& tires, tow lights and stern straps. It really didn't need the stern straps, but the ones that came on her were from 07. Better safe than sorry on a 250 miles ride across the Smokey's. 20.00 bucks now is a lot better than new to me boat on I40. LOL

VERY nice boat. I don't have anything that I'd tow that with, let alone launch it... it's a big 'un.

Thank you! It'll be a big jump from the old 17 ft Lund 50hp I used to have. LOL

It big, but not real heavy. Boat dry is about 3400 LBS, 1000 LB trailer, 45 gals of fuel. I'm figuring 4700 lbs. Barely tell it is behind my 1/2 ton 4wd.

Re: Proud new owner!

Well, I've been doing little things to the boat the last few days. So far I've...

Gave it a bath, inside and out.

Cleaned the carpet.

Wet sanded the top white gel coat with 1500 grit and 2k, to slick it up and remove a few stains

Buffed out the top after wet sanding.

Removed the 23 year old registration numbers(PITA).

Today I plan to wetsand the black and get it buffed out(weather permitting)

I've ordered a few parts for it. Complete tune up kit, roller rockers, springs, push rods, carb kit. Thinking about switching intakes while I at it.

I need to order a impeller kit, but I have a few questions about that, but I'll start a new thread for that.

Thanks for checking out my junk.

It's got about 250 hours on her and very well cared for.

Holy CATS! I'll be over 250 hours by the end of my second season! (150 hours in season 1, already 28 hours in season 2 after one outing.)

Good Score!

Wow, looks clean just how it is. Colbalts are sweet boats. My wife's side of the family has a newer 26' Colbalt bowrider...it's really nice, think it's got a 502 in it and has the captains call exhaust......but man filling that think up is almost a weeks pay!

Thank you Sir! I ordered a few parts to make this big block more efficient,so maybe that will help a little, but anything fun will cost you to play whether it's cars, bikes, trucks, boats, or women. You will pay either way. LOL

No intention to burst any bubbles etc. Can you tell us what you got? If there is anything to do with an air cleaner you are potentially going backwards. Let us know, and maybe we can save you a buck or two. Not much out there that works ;)

Re: Proud new owner!

Why is most people will spend 4 hours "rigging" something, instead of 2 hours fixing it right. I am rewiring my trailer lights. I didn't know you rig 2 freaking lights, so bad, in so many places!

No, I'm not messing with the flame arrestor. I just ordered plugs, wires, cap, rotor button, dist rebuild kit w/ better coil, 1.7 roller rockers, new push rods, new valve springs( with the low hours on a 1990 boat, figured it's spent fair amount of time sitting with a few valves open, might have weakened the springs), new filters, and a carb kit( just incase, I hate waiting on parts).

Re: Proud new owner!

I have some updates.

I got the impeller changed, the rockers, springs, push rods, and tune up kit installed. I ran her a little bit on the muffs, she sounds great and purrs like a 650lb kitten! I got my bilge pumps mounted to ABS plastic, got them wired into the factory wiring, they work with the dash switch, I have yet to mount them in the bilge, that tomorrow's job.

My trailer is wired, I just got to hang my lights, after I paint where they bolt on. I only want to mount them once.

A few things broke since I last updated. I need a new radio and the ribbon in my power antenna broke, so got that ordered.

June 9th is the splash day for her. I hope everything goes well! I'll keep ya'll posted!

Re: Proud new owner!

Looks like all good stuff. I was worried you were talking about a K & N air filter, hence my intake comment.

Sounds like a great boat. It looks so nice. Sounds like you got the rebuild going well. Can't wait to see it in the water.

Thank You Sir!

I got my little hiccup with the reg#'s I ordered fixed and she is 100% legal now,so if the weather plays nice this afternoon, the Wife and I are going for her first ride under our ownership.
