Alright quick question does all propeller have a rubber hub shock absorber?

Not all, some of the newer props have plactic that can be changed bu the owner and some high preformance stainless props have only drive pins.

Okay, Laddies, I think that my Propeller does not have a hub because it's a stainless steal one. The reason i ask this question is because my 175 hp boat can only go about 10-15 MPH. It use to go about 60+. Alright the sparks are all good as i checked already. Is there any reason that my boat is going so slow. is it the lower unit of the motor? do I need to buy a new propeller? Is it the gear shifting because the engine will rev loudly but not pick up any speed. I'm in desperate need of help anyone!

Most steel props have some type of hub to protect the motor from impacts. As stated above a few performance props and some saltwater props do not. You can see if your prop has a rubber hub by removing it and looking under the spacer. Sounds like the hub is spun, or slipping. You can check for spun hub by making marks with a grease pencil. One on spacer behind the nut and one on the prop barrel. Take it out a drive it a little. If the marks are no longer aligned, the hub is spun. A prop shop can press a new hub in.

This motor is a mariner oil injected 175 horsepower it's a 1985

I just had the same problem, and i found my hub was spun.

Ayuh,......

I had that Issue with an old 80hp Merc.......

It wasn't the Prop on That 1,.....
The Splines Sheared Out of the bottom of the Crankshaft,...... Lack of Grease,....
That was along time ago,+ I learned the Lesson Well...............

It Really Hurt to junk out a Perfectly Good Running motor,......
Luckily, I found somebody who needed Everything But the Crank........
