I keep hearing that Prop Wash is helpful when docking / manoeuvring.

  • Where can I buy some?
  • How much does it cost?
  • Is it easy to apply?
  • Does it take long to dry?

Re: Prop Wash question

Hi Marcoalza, out of curiosity I tried finding the product you were looking for, no luck here.

Could be a situation related to prop torque, which is a form of prop wash. If your prop rotates clockwise in foreward and counterclockwise in reverse, I have found it easier to dock on the port side. Picture your boat looking at the stern....Imagine the prop is a wheel....that wheel turning counterclockwise will have a tendency to move your boat to the left....and visa-versa.

Good day!

One day at Great Lakes Naval Base we sent a Seaman Apprentice to Wave Supply for a case of fallopian tubes.

Reminds me of my days as an Apprentice Car Technician, I was sent to the tool store for a Long Weight.

I was there for over an hour before I realised.

Another memorable day was when we sent ET1 Bob Brown all over the ship looking for a power supply for a MX991/U.

And in the telecom construction world, you tell the new kid to ask the (union) elevator operator to take them to the 13th floor and get a fresh bucket of dialtone. It's right next to the cable-stretcher.

In the old printing days, I got sent to the President's office to ask him where he kept the half tone dots........

He sent me to the production manager to get a signed purchase order for the particular department.....I even stayed late looking for those darn things....LOL

When I got the chance to "break-in" a new guy, there were even more things to look for....paper stretcher etc.:D

I'm old enough to have fallen for the "type lice" prank.

Linotype slugs in a galley would be spread apart, and a little water poured in to cause the type lice to come out. When the victim was intently looking for the lice, the perpetrator would slap the linotype together, splashing the victim in the face.

That would make me older than dirt.:D
