Prop spin??

So i put a new impeller mercruiser alpha 1 gen 2 today. After putting the lower unit back on and the gear in forward...i can spin the prop forward by hand with a clunking sound but will not spin backward....i unfortanetly don't know if this is normal??? please help.

Normal. when turning CW you are just rolling over the top of the shift dogs.

Thanks Don...was a little worried because i hadn't checked out it operated before and then was surprised it spun CW and then the clunking worried me too.
