I am getting ready to put a johnson 175 on my 22 ft Aquasport. I had a 200hp mercury on it that went bad. So what prop should I use for the 175 on my boat? The boat weighs 2200lbs in case anyone needs to know. the motor is a 1990.

What prop was on there, and what rpm were you running at WOT? This would help.

I have not had the boat out yet. I just got it but the mercury that is on it is bad. So I have no idea.

Does that 2200 lbs include the motor?

I'm thinking over 3000 lbs.

Working with more realistic weights, the prop selector comes up with 17/18 pitch, and says you might do 42 mph @ 5000 rpm.

I thought the 2200 lbs was with the motor? How do you find out if it is or not?

The NADA guide is usually fairly accurate with the weights listed. The weights listed are usually just the boat in the case of outboard powered. But not always. For I/O, the weight includes the hp motor listed.

A quick look at 1997 Aquasport 22 ft boats shows 3300-3900 lbs which I assume includes the hp motor listed.

Run motor and get rpms and gps speed then go from there. hard to answer without that.

Actually it does have a prop on it but I have not checked it yet to see the pitch. I will when I see it.
