Very well done so far with almost next to nothing besides what you already had. The budget on this referb shoudl break a record. Man I think it looks awsome.

Re: Project Greenie ? Making it mine.

great looking rig my man, thats pretty much what im after with mine, i gotta figure out the whole picture thing so i can get mine posted.
i agree w/ you in the kiss principle, its a fishing boat, dont get lost to much in the ammenites. but make it yours.
are you gonna use the rear platform? i like them just not comfy up there with a long pole on a choppy/windy day, still looking for one to fit mine. like you i like them to sit and scan the water, amazing what a foot or 2 of height will allow you to see.
again looks great, keep it up, D

Re: Project Greenie ? Making it mine.

Thanks for all the comments! I'm happier every time I look at it. I could have spent another month or two and lots of $$ on quickfair and sandpaper. I'm hoping to hide all that with fish slime. =)

I couldn't use the platform as it was because it wasn't tall enough. It was used more as a diving board than anything else. I'm going to make a push pole and give it a shot poling from the bench. I'm 6'2" so when I stand on the platform it's a long way from the water so it makes me nervous. I do want to learn to weld aluminum so maybe one day I can make one myself.

I need to wrap a few things up, check and change some fluids and maybe I can get it wet this weekend. I still need shorter throttle cables but that will have to wait until after payday. Ignition switch is at the shop but I'm stuck at work.

Project Greenie looks great! I have just started working on a 14' Gamefisher that was given to me. I would really like a platform to install on mine but I don't have the equipment or knowledge to wield aluminum. Is yours for sale?

Unfortunately the platform had to be cut up. Code enforcement was hassling me about my garbage cans and the platform was out there too. It weighed a ton and seemed to always be in the way when it was on the boat.

I'm going to see if I can reuse some parts or fit up a new one and get someone to weld it up for me one day.

My favorite part of this project is also my curse. Not one penny of this project was financed or put on a credit card. Unfortunately that means I have to wait until next week to buy the water pump rebuild kit... That means I have a week to clean out all the wasp nests I found in the lower unit when I started pulling it last night.

Re: Project Greenie ? Making it mine.

I have this exact boat! I have this exact inspiration (a flats boat).

This is awesome; I really appreciate you putting this on here; I might have to start this project in the winter.

One thing: how are you getting away with a 50HP motor on that boat? If it's a 14' like mine, the CG plate says 25HP max.

Re: Project Greenie ? Making it mine.

I apologize for the delay in responding, I don't get e-mail notifications for posts on this forum. I need to fix that.

Regarding the 50hp, I haven't had to explain that to anyone officially. Hoping my good behavior and pleasant attitude keep it that way.

If you look at some similar models such as the more recent Whaler inspired designs, they are running 50's so I am hoping that will help. If my math was right, applying the coast guard backyard builder formula found here: http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/education_safety/safety/boatwater/backyardboatbuilders.pdf Shows that I am within about a half inch in beam and an inch length to qualify for a 50hp motor. (less if you measure the motor bracket.

Look familiar? I couldn't afford this so I built my own.

Re: Project Greenie ? Making it mine.

Still going strong, I learned alot from this build. I may raise the console an inch or two so it is more comfortable driving while standing. There is a little bit of cracking where I sanded the fiberglass too thin on the front deck edge. The floor flexes when my dad walks on it. I could do it all over again with the knowledge I gained but it would take away from fishing.

Overall the boat performs very well, handles great with the 50 on it. Much more confidence inspiring when maneuvering around traffic etc... I can idle in around a foot of water without too much trouble (motor tilted) and it will float in inches with Dad and I on it. (450 pounds)
