Hey Arch, Did you ever figure out that little missing piece that goes under the center window? In the walk through vid you did a while ago it looked like there were some hinges that would let that missing piece either flip up to close off that area, or flip down to make either a seat base or a step. Hard to say with out knowing how it looked originally, but a closer look at those hinges might give you the answer.

I think it was a vinyl covered piece to plywood. I went ahead and filled the hinge screw holes for it and the folding windshield. I don't think I will put either back in. Most of the time I will be out in her during the summer, and the ventilation will be nice. I also took all 8 million snaps off for the enclosure. I don't plan on being out in weather that would require that. I may try to come up wit some kind of Bimini top down the road.

I did a little more sanding this morning, then put another layer of primer on it.....looks really good. The dog house needs some work, but that isn't surprising given I haven't worked on it much.

+1 on what everyone else above has said. Looks like excellent work as usual.

I'll probably have some fiberglass questions for you when I get to that point in my Laker build. I'm thinking of attaching the Larson windshield (from the green one) and using some FG to blend in the junction area. It's too early for me to take any notes on it now as the plan might change when I get closer to that point in the build.

Great work arch. As usual. I don't want to throw a wrench in the works because I like the teal but, it sure looks nice in Grey too.

I'm just glad to see it mostly two colors.....I was getting tired of seeing all the layers of primmer, bondo, and glazing putty! Thanks for all the nice comments.....I can't wait to get some paint on it! I have yet more sanding to do, but its a lot closer! The boat is almost there, I have a little more work on the dog house. Gomopar, you picked the right place to ask questions about fiberglass, lol! Ask away when you are ready. Today I'm having to take a break on the boat and some things ready for working on my boat dock (hoepfully next week). Mainly rounding up some supplies and some welding. Hopefully I will at least have time to knock out the sanding down the dog house!

Were working on it Jake.....tomorrow is our game of the year, hopefully we show up. I haven't been very happy so far....hope they change that!

Thanks Woe!

Sanding...........Sanding...............Sanding.........blocked out the primer on the dog house tonight. Looks pretty good, but needs some glazing putty as I suspected. I got some on after sanding tonight. I'm guessing a few more rounds of that and more primer. After that we should be close. I also sanded down the port rear deck area. Looks pretty good. Its amazing what a little glazing putty and 2K primer will do. Most of the primer is on the floor. Amazing how well it works and how easy it sands. Not sure how much I will get done tomorrow with the game at 11. Guess we'll see!

arch, I tried using the PPG 2K JP202 primer with a filler spreader and was really amazed with the results. All those pin holes seem to be covering very well. I used glazing compounds on automotive body work, but was leery to use it on the bottom of the boat hull because of the water possibility issues. What type glazing compound are you using? I am just starting the block sanding now myself. That should take a while to get it look fairly nice. JMHO

You really do need to post pictures. I am avidly watching your professional results. ::thumb:

GM I am using Evercoat metal glaze. It is catalyzed, so it shouldn't shrink much. I have bondo and glaze on Miss Morgan, no problems. She is a trailered boat, but has been in the lake for up to 10 days. I like the metal glaze (called that because it has additives that help it bond to metal better, but works on glass too)

Been out sweating and sanding....have both sides of the rear deck and dog house sanded out. the rear deck is looking really good, couple minor touch ups and a final light coat of primer. Then I will sand it out to 400 or so. The dog house is on the first round of primer, not to bad but has the glaze all over it! I need to get another coat of primer on it, then it will be up to speed with the boat. I'm hoping I might get paint on the transom and dog house next weekend.

Arch, I like it. I know exactly what it take to make the panels look straight and not that wavy look you see on a lot of cheaper hulls. Look at a Ranger hull and it looks smooth and flat. Look at a Glassteam hull and it looks wavy. There is a different in the quality it take with the builds. Go to any car show and look down the sides of some of the quickie build cars. It looks like a hind leg of a dog. Then look at the top show winner builds. Perfectly straight and smooth. What's the different? Sanding with a long board and using spot fillers and sanding some more. Yes it does take a lot of time, but the finish look is amazing too. :thumb:

GM Fuggly will have some flaws for sure, but I want the tie in of the new parts as clean as I can....blocking is the way to go for sure. She is ultimately going to be the SUV for the lake.....Miss Morgan is for sure going to retain the sexy title! But Fuggly may turn out to get more time on the water, we'll see. Oh and I have one thing to say.....

That has even taken my mind off the fact that my fingers are raw. I block sanded the entire boat, 80 in the deck area, 120 everywhere else. I also got one more coat of primer on the dog house to get it caught up with the boat......getting really close now!
