Re: Products that work well.

After scrubbing the bottom of my boat to get all the brown and black skum on the bottom of it after sitting in the lake all year I found this stuff at my local Evinrude dealer it is called Slimy Grimy. Now instead of scrubbing, I mix this stuff up let it sit on the bottom of the boat for about 5 minutes and pretty much just spray off the gunk. Some of the tougher spots need some elbow grease, but not many. Saves hours of clean up time at the end of the year. Also in the same relm I found the scum comes off pretty good with a plastic scouring pad.

Knipex pliers. German made. I've had a pair for 20 years now and they're always part of any repair project.

Crown Royal has always worked for me. Like a good friend that never lets you down.:D

I've seen too many that used too much of a "good thing" and it certainly left them down ... just sayin' ....

If you think that works well, try rinsing the front of your vehicle with water, sprinkle some baking soda on the bugs, and use a sponge to wipe them right off. The baking soda won't harm the finish. The soda neutralizes the bug guts and works awesome!!

White vinegar and water mixed together (75% vinegar, 25% water). Works great on non-skid surfaces, removes the scum line easily and makes my exhaust tips shine like new! And its CHEAP!

No-Ad sunscreen. SPF 50 works great on my albino skin and stays on better than any brand name sunblock.

Hah! Sunscreen of any kind or brand. I would basically have no life if not for sunscreen. SPF50 of course. Part of the (functional) albino club.

Everything in moderation. According to my better half, the "too much" in my life is the time I spend on iboats forum.;)

Spot Shot carpet cleaner. With kids and pets it a lot easier to clean a small spot then haul out the carpet cleaner. Works great.

Gonna try both. Thanks Gentlemen!!!

To Mark42 and all contributers, Thanks... Great thread!!!

...And here's my .02: For those who use any of the powerful name brand degreasers... Go to Dollar General, and try "Awesome". It really is... And it's dirt cheap.

I'm a Paramedic on a Critical Care/Neonatal Intensive Care Tranport team at one of the larger hospitals in Southern Georgia. We recently had our trucks detailed by someone who uses this stuff. I now use it in the garage, on my truck, on the boat, and in the house (I've got a 7y/o and a 2y/o). The fumes won't knock your socks off. It hasn't damaged any paint or finish on anything. I havn't used it on any antiques nor fine woodwork, though.

I can't believe there is anything better than a wet fabric softner sheet.......but.......maybe there is. I will certainally give it a try soon. You try the sheet and see what you think.

Thanks for all the info here, interesting.
