Well do not know if this is the right section of this forum, but I thought I would post a product review of the Meguiars Solo buffing products. I hope I can and it helps others.....
Meguiars Solo Wool Heavy Cutting Pad 7" - #WWHC7 - This pad works great and is very aggressive. I removes heavy oxidation from the low portions of my hull that sit in water and are heavily stained with ease. With medium to light pressure and paired with the Meguiars Solo cut and polish cream. Now this does not give the perfect mirror finish. But I would say that the finish that does come is noting to be ashamed of. I did both sides of the hull, from the rub rail down, in 2.5hrs. This is with moderate oxidation. A couple of things to watch out for, the first if when you first start using the pad, it sheds like a dog. Normally right into your eyes! After all the loose strands are gone, it stops. The 1 pad I have should be enough to do the whole boat. We will see.
Meguiars Solo Cut and Polish Cream - This compound is both a heavy and fine grit. Basically is breaks down as you use it. I found that it worked very well for cutting the heavy oxidation areas. Especially in the color bottom of the hull (1991 Baylinf Trophy with a grey gel coat bottom) It took two applications in some of the heavier areas, but it did cut thru everything and produce a nice shine on a 21 year old boat. What was nice is I only used about a cup full so far for the sides of the hull.
Now I understand that there are other products on the market for this application, this one was what I tried (due to a sale and cheap price) and worked for me. And until the gallon jug is done, I'll be using it. I have other products on the shelf, both 3m and Meguiars, but this one seams to work the best so far with less work, no multi step process. That makes it ideal for me.
Like I said before I hope this helps some one.
I would post pics, but my pics album is full. Don't know how to fix.....
