Primer solenoid assembly for 1988 48 hp Evinrude.

Does anyone know the proper lever position for this assembly?

Can’t see a pic if you had one but if your asking about the red lever it would inline with valve body for run position or turned 90deg for manual position.

Yes, I am talking about the red lever. What is it's function?

It’s the primer. It supplies fuel for cold starts.

I live in Florida so I assume I should never need to move it from the normal running position.

Pic’s have been a problem for a few weeks now but its being worked on.
The manual position would be for say your battery was dead and you had to start manually.
The solenoid normally works when you push the key in. It acts like a choke only better.
I grew up in Fl and recall some cool mornings in the winter. Even saw snow twice in my 30 years there.

I understand that normal running position would be with the red lever in a straight line with the cylinder body, correct?
