I have approximately 40 to 50 ft. of exterior plywood that I will cut to replace old rotten stringers. There are going to be five stringers, one in the middle (13 ft.) and two on either side ( 8 and 9 ft.). How much fiberglass and what type do I need roughly, a guy at a local store suggested that I needed 12 gallons or so of fiberglass and about 50 ft. of fiberglass matt, does that sound reasonable? Also the price for the items was going to be $800 to $1,000, does that seem reasonable or does anyone know of a place to get it cheaper on-line? One last thing for now, does anyone know of a good site that has a tutorial on how to lay up fiberglass over newly installed stringers, I haven't a clue where to start other than cutting th stringers to fit in the boat.
Oh yeah, thanks oops if your out there for the previous advice, I will definitely take your advice.

Hay man !! welcome !!

Well you said 12 gals of fiberglass , think you mean 12 gals of poly ??

that seams a little light on the glass If your useing poly the you need a layer of matt then glass then matt then at least one more layer of glass !! now if you are useing eopxy you can skip the matt , but eopxy cost more !! 3 layers is best !!

There are a lot of guys order from US Compistites , I am one of them . they have great prices and fast shipping , and some great people !!

so i say you need more glass , but 800 to a grand is about right , I would just check for better prices !! John
