Re: Pressure treated vs fiberglass

Hey thanks for replying. No I have not been able to find any info on the company. The only thing I found that the compay was based and boats were made in Greenville SC. I have the floor ripped out of mine and have to replace it and stringers. I found out today that there is a place in the front deck where water can run out and it runs down the middle of boat to the bilge in the back. Well who ever had the boat did a poor job of fiberglassing the stringers because they rotted due the water running from the front deck.

Yeah, it's funny - I just moved to Greenville a few months ago. I'm going to go to a local library and see if I can find any info on McDaniel. I got a pretty good deal on mine, only $1800 with a 50-hp Evenrude. It's in really good shape for an '85. It's underpowered for skiing or pulling a tube, but great for running around the lake. I'm planning on putting a 115-hp O/B on it when I find one for a reasonable price. Here are some pics:
http://filebox.vt.edu/users/pking/McDaniel Mark IV/

Pete

I been using pt wood for boat repairs for 20+ years, never had any problem with it.And yes,I been using poly resin with it and I find that it is just as good as epoxie when not glueing any wood together.Epoxie is to much work to use, besides the chemicals that can kill you.Alot of people don't realize that when using epoxie, sanding it,you are kicking up dust, which goes everywere even after clean up,it still that, and its not the best for you.

Thanks for the pics. My boat is a 1982 model #1500FS 15'. I have the floor ripped out right now replacing stringers. This boat has a 1969 85 HP johnson on it. I noticed you have bench seats. My boat was set up for bass fishing because I have pedestal seats in the rear and one in the bow. I am going to purchase new seats for it. Once I get all the interior work done I will start on the exterior. The boat is white and I am going to use some soft scrub cleaner and start polishing.
