Anybody else get themselves a lil too worked up about all the things that have to be done before the season starts? I find myself jumping from one project to another tryin to get it all ready. Feel like Im gonna drive myself crazy tryin to get everything done up to my standards. Yet I think I do this to myself every year.

Re: Pre Season Panic

make a list of what needs to be done, then take that list and prioritize it. what has to be done, and what you want done, but won't stop the use.

now start at the top, and finish that project, before going to the next.

Tashasdaddy, I add one more catagory before I prioritize my list, Can it be done it the water or not, and how much harder is it to do in the water. For example, I can not bottom paint once it is the water, I can wax the hull in the water but it is very difficult, but I can wax the topside in the water and it is not any harder then waxing it on the hard.

Made a list like you suggested. Even the act of writing all of it out helped to group and simplify my thoughts. Guess its just too much info to try and sort it all out in my head. Thanks.

Re: Pre Season Panic

I don't want to do nothing on the water but fish or enjoy the day, if a belt goes i am angry with my self, i have a spare one already around the front mount. But it means i missed something and belts just don't go unless they are worn first.

Hose burst and all kinds of bad things happened last year, missed 3/4 to 7/8ths
of the season.

But a new to me motor this year, and had it running on the water 2-4 times last year so i know i put her away good. Keeping my fingers crossed no problems this year.

So my suggestion a cooler full, and safe fun on the water,do the work at the dock or on the trailer in the driveway.

Fair winds at your back, and clear sailing everyone !

Re: Pre Season Panic

My boating season started on January 4th this year (first time in '09 I took the boat out). Last year it ended on December 27th (Last time in '08 I took the boat out). 'Bout the only real prep I had to do before the 2009 fishing season was put my trolling motor battery on the charger, and put some more fuel in the tank. Geez, getting ready for the first trip of the year is tough.:D:D;)
