Continued Thanks for all the Prayers and Thoughts.

It has been a very hard day but also a good day.

My wife and I attended the funeral. He was a great kid, 18 years old with much to look forward to in life.

My daughter is progressing nicely. Many of the probes, sensors and misc devices have been removed. She has opened her eyes a few brief times and has been moving her arms, and legs.

They have not repaired her hip yet so they still have her on some pretty heavy meds.

She is resting as I type this.

I'm sure attending funeral was hard duty, 64.

Moving around and opening her eyes are good signs and hope they can fix her hip soon so you can bring her home.

Thanks all.

Pretty sure she will move to an in house rehab facility. By the time she is able to go she will have laid in bed for 2 weeks. Anyone who does that would need some aggressive therapy to get on their feet. Other aspects are still unknown.

The Tortoise and the Hair is a great analogy. We plan on winning this one. Slow and steady will be just fine.

Had a good laugh today. During an intense storming period (think brain rebooting). She was pointing at her neck brace, I said something and her pointer finger went down and and she proceeded to flip me off.

A small sign but a good one.

A friend of the family was in town this weekend. He is one of the top concussion experts in the country, he is a neurologist. He consults with NFL and the Military on concussions and shell shock. He was able to visit with us and review her information and ct scans. His opinion is the hospital has performed excellent work. He also stated to us that everything points to a very good recovery but it will take a time.

Sitting here next to her as she rests, was able to get her ipod unlocked and we are listening to some of her favorite music (very softly).

Continued thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

 She was saying you're a #1 Dad. LOL

The second opinion of sorts has to help you, 64. With a situation like this, you as a Father, wonder if she is getting the best care. A long recovery, but good in the end is good news!

We have had a couple of busy days at the hospital in preparation of moving to the in house rehab center.

Hip surgery was a success. All the monitoring equipment has been removed and most of the drugs are no longer needed. My girl is awake and moving but still storming. Improvements are being made daily. Slow but sure.

The move should happen midday today. It is supposed to be one of the best rehab facilities for her needs. Going to be a long haul to get my little girl back, but we are ready to start the climb.

The clinic is about an hour from the house so the Admiral and I will be getting lots of windshield time.

Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers.

As long as there are improvements that is all one can ask. It's going to be a slow process. It will seem even slower for her. But she is on the road to recovery. Praise God!

Awesome news ... now if the rehab facility was on the water so you could boat there ... guess that would be asking too much! We are keeping your daughter, as well as you and your wife in our prayers. Wishing continued progress that amazes the doctors!

64osby, great to hear she is recovering now. I can tell you hip surgery will take a long time to over come, but it does happen. And I can also tell you that in house rehab centers are worth their weight in gold at what they can accomplish with her. While we rarely think about such place in our daily schedules, when needed they offer an amazingly great service. I know that from my wife being is such a place after her stroke. So they do great work and will bring her back quickly but safely too... Prayer are still coming your way...
