Powerhead interchange?

1974 9.9 evinrude powerhead is toast. Will a 1988 Evinrude 15hp be a direct swap?

Yes as long as you get the ignition system and flywheel with the 88 motor. Better if it also comes complete with the exhaust tuner and carb.

I have the whole 88, prop to flywheel minus tiller hande. I would just find a handle for 88, but I don't have a title for it like I do my 74.

My mind is trying to figure the best scenario while staying within law.

With a whole motor like that it will be an easy swap.

Tittle for an outboard? Can't you just go to the appropriate swamp dwelling bureaucrat and tell them you bought it used out of state? Have a sister in law write out a bill of sale?
