While we are disagreeing, what technology do you think the Etech & even the G2 are using? It's that word that's hard to spell that OMC/BRP wants you to forget about. Only problem is it works. All of the oiling problems everybody talks about, look at the next engine you tear down. Motor is full of oil! That's not it. Fuel injectors are flowing fuel if you test, that's not it! What components controls everything that goes on with the engine? When injector come on, for how long it stays on, & when it goes off! When timing event happens, how many times the engine fires on any one revolution.
Only one answer the ECU/EMM. Lots of problems with those & no good way to trouble shoot. Just like cars, motorcycles, etc. It's getting better, but it's work in progress.

I am obviously biased, but I wish you the best of luck with your engine choice. Yamaha makes a great engine as well as Mercury OptiMax (it's gone now), but everybody has problems! It's just part of the deal.
