power to bildge pump

hi got new blower installed went to bilge pump turn switch on switch does not light up but marker bulb on dash says it is on fuse is good but getting no power at pump would that mean bad switch, what is easiest way to check switch thanking u in advance for your time

would the motor need to be on to use bilge pump does not make sense that it wouldto me also pump for waste water does motor need to be running to work that pump

The bilge pump should be powered direct from the Bat thru a fuse. Most likely its mis-wired

ty very much for diagram hoping bad fuse at batt. also found water pump it does not work either so 3 for 3 pumps not workin 2 will work when i put power diect waste water pump have not found yet wondering if inside tank

Not to be a jerk, but punctuation would help your post a lot ...
That said, nobody has any idea what we're working on. Skiff? Old timey paddle boat?
In general, to test the switch, check for 12v on both sides of the switch. If you don't have 12v when the switch is on then that's your problem. As AD showed, another potential failure point is the float switch, so you'd need to check 12v on both sides of that as well--if the switch isn't "floating", you'll have no power at the pump as well

sorry, i will try to use punctuation may be wrong but i will try and break it up, sorry, what i have for a boat is a 88 peterboroug 26 foot 260 hp 350 chev motor with alpha 1 outdrive. getting 12 volts at pump but pump does not turn on, but it i put wires direct to battery pump turns on. left charger on overnight and cleaned all the battery cables and i will check again today . ty for your time

Should only get 12V at pump when float switch is lifted or toggle switch is turned ON. Now if the float switch is creating the ground and not power, then check the ground

i removed 3 splits in 1 wire and 2 in other put new wire on now have bildge punp working ty for your time

For everyone else, you need 2 things to make a motor run or lights to light. The +12 volts side and the negative ground side
