I have a question about what power steering fluid I should use for my Merc 488 3.7. When looking at the power steering reservoir, it doesn't give me a recommended type and I have not been able to locate the service Manuel for the motor. I have done a bit of research and have found power steering/tilt hydraulic fluid, but I know if I put trim fluid in the Power steering reservoir, we could have some major problems. I could be completely wrong which is why I am asking for advice.

Ive always used ATF, but the power steering/ tilt fluid will work fine too.a non detergent straight weight motor oil, jack oil etc will all work,

is there fluid in there now ? If red it is atf, if clear like oil use the ps/ tilt fluid .

you can always drain out what is in there and use what is available to you

Factory manual http://publications.brunswick.com/

However, if your fluid is red, ATF, if the fluid is honey colored, SAE 30 weight oil

If your fluid is black .... Then change and flush and fill with ATF or SAE 30
