Power Pack burning out

I just replaced the power pack on my 15hp honda and it burnt out the first time I used it. Is this a common problem? I'm thinking there must be a short somewhere. I doubt it's a quick fix but has anyone else had this problem? Just asking before I bring it to a mechanic.

It's pretty rare to have a failure on a Jap CD...It's even more rare to have a second one quit. You either have a root cause for the CD failure or that's not the problem.
